I am once again back at my favorite place in Thunder Bay, VV. I worked 4 days in a row, each day getting home too late and tired to do much other than eat and go to bed, so I’ve combined some days together for this Today At Work.
Today at work I…
- Was bombarded by fat kids. I don’t mean chunky, I mean obese to the point where 40 looks like about as far as they are going to get.For some reason, for this shift, half the fat kids of Thunder Bay had come to VV. One of them ran up and down isles, popping out the ends going “bah!” and randomly grabbing a article of clothing off a rack, staring at it for all of 10 seconds, then throwing it on top. Another came up behind me and said “Hey boy, do you have a measuring tap for measuring a waist?”. I didn’t take well to being called ‘boy’ when I was clearly twice his height and twice his age (though not twice his weight). I wanted to say “you don’t need a measuring tape, just look for clothes marked XL”. But I didn’t, instead I politely told him we don’t keep any for that use.
- Was shocked when, while doing the fitting rooms, an older lady, likely in her mid fifties, came out of a change room to retrieve more clothes to try on. She was, however, only wearing a bra and freaking panties, covering her from with a shirt held by one hand. I didn’t know what to do other than pretend I hadn’t seen and walk away.
- Spent 2.5 hours cutting up boxes. Halloween is coming up and we received a HUGE shipment of costume stuff. I slowly worked my way through an entire isle full of empty cardboard boxes, sitting on a small stool. When I had cut up all the boxes within reach, I would scoot forward on my stool and continue on. Behind me, more boxes would pile up. It was never ending.
- Managed to stop myself from telling a customer to shut the fuck up. This mother daughter pair was trying to get this cave woman costume put together by the change rooms. The girl had to be the whiniest b!ch I have ever heard, and when her mother somehow ‘messed up’ her skanky dress, she took the whine up a notch. I actually had to leave to stop myself getting angry, the two were THAT ridiculous.
Despite the fact that I’ve found my first days there trying, I’m super happy to be back. I love my coworkers. Absolutely fantastic people!
