TOTD: Experiment with Food

Following recipes is a great way to learn how to cook, but it shouldn’t end there. Cooking is just like chemistry, and experimenting is where the fun is!

My favourite things to experiment with are eggs and rice. These two are easy because they are hard to mess up, and go well with just about anything. The same can be said for noodles, or any other multi-purpose food. Just think about how different foods taste, and guess how they might go together. Then have at it!

Just this evening I was wondering what I was going to feed myself. Checking the cupboards and fridge I picked out a yam, rice, and eggs. I cooked the rice and yam, fried it up in a pan, and cracked two eggs into it. It tasted phenomenal! I also like adding eggs to my pasta sauce. A little ground beef, a little sauce, and some scrambled egg make a great dish that provides you with lots of energy to study and do school work… or play outside!

So have some fun with your cooking. Try throwing together some radnom ingredients and you might just come up with a recipie worth sharing with your friends!

Hmmm… You lost me at the yams…. Yams bad!

Now if you want something awesome, try grilled sardine sandwiches dipped in hp sauce. Now that’s a meal…. Add a little mayo to the sandwiches (before grilling) for some added zing….

    YUMMY!

im with sirthinks on the grossness of yam

but im also grossed out by the sardine thing hes talking about

    my rule for mixing things

if you are making something, smell the food, you are cooking, smell the food you want to add, then smell the food you are cooking again, chances are if the smells together are really good it will taste well together because smell and taste are linked.

I have to agree on the smelling thing. Since smell plays such a huge part in taste, if it smells good, it MUST taste good!

I rest my case. Sardines smell good…. Mayo smells good…. Bread smells good….. HP Sauce smells good…. ERGO!

If it smells good it tastes good….. Sarah… Don’t tease me!
