Missing the Day

Monday was a saturated day for me. I sat in my room from 11:30am to 4am the following day and just did school stuff. I almost completed the prototype for my SE design class, and then I studied for the midterm I had to today. I also missed calling my Dad to wish him a happy birthday. Damn it.

For almost the entire month, I would remind myself everyday, Taylor, it’s Dad’s birthday on the 26th. Don’t forget to call. I put serious effort into trying to remember to call, but because my Monday was almost non-existent and spent in a zombie-like state, I let the whole day pass without a single thought about my Dad.

Today I was sitting in a lab, working on a project, and for some reason the date was really bugging me. I kept thinking that there was something wrong with the fact that it was the 27th, but I couldn’t figure out what the problem was. When I got home later today, I ended up talking to my roommate about how she had to bus out to Ignace for her dad’s birthday, and that is when it hit me. I made sure I called my dad right after that. Being the good natured guy he is, he didn’t seem to mind.

Sorry Dad. I’ll get it right next year!

Invest in some post-it notes and start slapping them to things you use all the time when you need to remember something important! This story is perfect for the Only Human website.

Thanks for the tip Jason. I definitely use post its, but not on stuff I use everyday. I think taking the post-its to that level would actually help!
And thanks also for mentioning Only Human. It looks like a really good resource I’ll make sure I write about once I’ve checked it out. And its brown. I like brown.
