TOTD: Eat

I know that sometimes life gets to busy for you to waste time with eating. Or perhaps you are not feeling so good, and your appetite isn’t really there. Whatever the reason, is, sometimes you don’t eat. And that is a bad thing. Let me explain why.

Your body needs something called calories to survive. Some people think that calories just make you fat, and you only need them if you exercise, but the truth of the matter is, you always need them, especially if you are not feeling so hot. Your brain alone burns around 500 calories a day. There are some meals that don’t even contain 500 calories. That alone should convince you of the importance of eating. When you are sick, your body is fighting. Its fighting to get healthy again, and fighting, as you may know, is really hard and makes you hungry. I know you might not feel hungry, but your body is. So feed it, and if you are having trouble keeping things down, find something that will.

Eating stuff you really like can also release dopamine and endorphins, those happy chemicals, into your brain, so eating can also make you feel good. I guess this explains why haagen-dazs is eaten when you are feeling down. As with anything, don’t overdo it, or all the benefits of eating will be lost.
