I Write Like a Girl

While browsing Digg this morning, I came across this site called Gender Genie. Based on the variety and frequency of certain key words, this little app will determine if the author of the text is male or female. Every post I tested turned out female. And it wasn’t just a bit female either. The female score was almost double the male score every time.

Either this thing is out to lunch, or I truly do write like a girl. At least I don’t punch like one.

p.s. It said this one was written by a girl too.

The results for my Christmas post were:

    Female Score: 612
    Male Score: 826

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: male!

For the other blog entries I tried the ratio was better than 3:1 for male.

I think part of the reason it is coming up female for your entries is they are too SHORT…. It looks at certain words and the number of times they are used and in which tense. Your entries are under the optimal 500 words causing it to not have enough data to make a rational decision.

Try putting something in from one of your term papers and see what it says.

Interestingly enough; I entered former text from comments you made on my blog entries and your comments came back resoundingly MALE!

Congrats: you are a tranny…. lol
