Back in TBay

Here I sit in my new basement apartment. It’s not so bad really, the basement part I mean. Its 1/3 above grade, so all the windows are actually up off the ground, not in it. Plenty of light gets in, it’s clean with white walls and light beige tilling everywhere but the bedrooms, of which there are two. It needs a little work yet. My stuff is spread out everywhere and I still have to replace one of the light fixtures with a nicer looking low-profile one from home depot. I needed to change them because the current ceiling fixtures drop down so low I hit my head off them all the time.Saturday I went to a used furniture store and chose a couch, a chair, and a big wooden teacher’s desk for only $264, delivery included. Its not half bad stuff either. I took Sarah and Paul with me, one to tell me what I wanted, and the other to make sure I got it. Thanks guys for helping me out, I think I ended up with a much better deal than if I went in there alone.

I plan on building myself a coffee table; shouldn’t be too hard. Paul has one in his living room his house built, and it’s pretty sturdy despite being simple. 2×6 for the legs, 2×4 for the frame, and 1×2 for the top. It shouldn’t be too expensive or hard to build.

I’ll write more later, but right now I really need to get at unpacking and organizing; I can barely walk from my room to the kitchen!

Glad to see you are back and the blogging has begun. I know how busy you will be at school this year, but please find time to fill us all in.

As for your coffee table…. 2 milk crates with a sheet of plywood works well….. lol…. You can spill all you want on it. When it gets too grungy, or you have a date coming over, simply get a new piece of plywood.

Worked for me for 6 years of university!
