I had a bit of a bad day the other week. Nothing too horrible, but one highlight was my altercation with the speed bump just beside the on-campus daycare.It was early morning, and I was on my way back from a particularly bad chemistry test. The weather in Thunder Bay had been warmer during the day and colder at night, resulting in a nice clear layer of ice coating just about every walking surface.
Listening to my mp3 player and not paying much attention, I stepped on the yellow raised mini-hill to cross the road, as it was the only part sticking up out of a substantial puddle. Upon contact of my foot with the bump, my foot immediately shot out from under me, and arms flailing I fell hard on my back, right on that damn speed bump, and into the puddle. My arse was soaked, as well as my lower arms, and now I was cold. The rest of the walk back to my apartment was an unpleasant one
I’m sure if I had not been wearing my backpack, I could have seriously hurt my back, but as it was I only dealt my bum a solid blow, which has left it a bit tender. I’m positive at least 5 people saw me, and I only hope it made their day so that my arse wasn’t bruised for nothing.
