People who live in T-bay are special

People who live in Thunder Bay are special. I’m not talking the good kind of special. Like a nice gift, or a good friend. I’m talking the two bricks short of a full load special. And this doesn’t just apply to townies. Just living here will take away from your common sense.

Let’s start with an illustrating example. On my way to class the other day I saw a guy talking to some girl just behind a pile of snow by one of the townhouses. The snow was about waste high, so I could only see the top halves of them. The Guy was wearing this heavy yellow parka, had the hood pulled up and everything. Granted, it was a bit chilly outside, but a big down parka?

I continued forward, and as I crested a rise, I could see over the snow. The guy was wearing running shoes and gym shorts that didn’t even come to his knees, and no socks. What is that? What reason could he have for possibly dressing that way? After some thinking I decided that the poor bastard must have run out of clean pants, and was compensating for the exposed lower half of his body by wearing a ridiculously warm parka on his upper half.

Another example of this odd geographically connected reduction in IQ I saw today. While waiting for the bus to take me home from the Intercity Mall, another bus stopped to let passengers off. One man got off and decided to cross the street. No biggie, usually. However, this mall is busy on a Saturday and so there is allot of traffic in the parking lot, and it’s always a good idea to look both ways, especially when popping out from between two busses. Well this man didn’t think so. He practically jumped off the bus, ran around to the front then started to giv’r across the road. He came within half a foot of being smoked by a Lincoln driven by a white-haired old lady. Seeing someone plowed over by half a ton of steel probably would have put a dent in my day. Good thing those rubber boots of his had good grip.

I get to live up here again next year. Can’t wait…
